Healesville Railway Heritage Festival 2011

Healesville is set to turn back the clock with the Yarra Valley Railway playing host to the 3^nd Annual Healesville Railway Heritage Festival.

Highlights of the weekend will include a vintage bus operating free shuttle trips into town, beautifully restored steam road engines and some of the state’s most talented blacksmiths at work.

The festival caters to an incredibly diverse range of interests and is the perfect way to kick off the school holidays and educate the next generation about the machines and lifestyles of past era.Entry to this incredible day out is by $5 per person and children under 12yrs are free with all proceeds used to help further the restoration of the volunteer driven Yarra Valley Railway.

Steavenson Falls - Marysville

Today we went for a drive up the beautiful Black Spur and visited Marysville. From gracedale it only took us 40 minutes and after a walk around the Sunday market, we checked out all the new shops, including the lolly shop (can't resist) followed by a bite of lunch. It took 10 minutes to reach Steavenson Falls, one of Victoria's tallest falls. The walk from the car park is very easy and enjoyable, it's a wide track however flat shoes would be preferable. Take time to sit on the seats at the newly constructed lookout and enjoy the magic and power of mother nature!
